Peter Collingwood was a weaver, author and teacher. He was the author of books on rug weaving, tablet weaving, ply split braiding and sprang. We will miss you Peter.

Died Peacefully and unexpectedly in his workshop on the 9th of October 2008
A post mortem will take place next week after which details of his memorial will be announced here.

Peter's favourite charity was Medicins Sans Frontieres (www.msf.org.uk)

The Home Textile Tool Museum

Amy Clarke Moore at Interweave set up an extra excursion to the Home Textile Tool Museum for those attending SOAR, on our day off.

The Home Textile Tool Museum is located in Orwell PA and is well worth a side trip if you're in the area. The museum is housed in the late Bill and Vicky Ralph's house and several outbuildings and a barn on their property and is filled with spinning and weaving items. The Ralph's originally made money by tapping their maples and selling the syrup, but when Vicky asked Bill to repair some fiber equipment for her, a passion was born. After years of collecting, restoring and loving antique textile tools, Bill and Vicky Ralph turned their collection into a Museum in 1998.

Stop by and see these treasures if you're in the neighborhood, you won't be sorry you did!

On Friday I was really excited as I picked these up - I wanted to see how the printing had come out. They look even better than I imagined they would! I am so pleased. These are in my suitcase having just arrived at SOAR along with Beth and me. If you're going to Rhinebeck, Toni Neil of The Fold will have them in her booth...

Beth, Abby and I are here in the Poconos attending the Spin Off Autumn Retreat (SOAR). In case you don't know about SOAR, it's a wonderful retreat for spinners with top notch teachers, passionate participants and lots of fiber!

This is Amy Clarke Moore, the editor of Spin-Off, welcoming us all to SOAR 2008! Tomorrow the classes begin in earnest, but for today it was a time to catch up with old friends, make new friends, settle in and show off our latest skills, toys and creations.

I believe a good time was had by all....

Thanks everyone for the great response to the new Spindlicity format. We're very excited about all the new things we plan to bring to you! It's been so nice to hear from former readers that they are happy to have Spindlicity back and it's equally great to hear from new spinners that have just discovered us.

Beth, Abby and I will all be at SOAR in just a few days, and we'll be bringing you daily updates from this great spinning event (we hope if the internet connection is good enough). Abby is teaching at SOAR this year so I know she'll be hopping busy! Beth and I, on the other hand, are going to be 'civilians' this year so we'll get to relax and enjoy all the festivities without any worries.

I'm pretty excited about the Mystery S/KAL (spin/knit along). I hope some of you are planning to spin and knit with us. I can't give you too many hints (it is a mystery after all) but let's just say these gauntlets are fabulous!
